Whether you're a bourbon drinker or not you will enjoy this tour of the oldest operating distillery in the US. The drive through bluegrass country to get there will only add to your enjoyment. The distillery is in rolling hills near Lexington, KY. This is horse country. In fact, Woodford also raises fine thoroughbreds. The nearly 2 hour tour begins... more

If you are visiting Lexington,Kentucky a nice day trip would be the Woodford Reserve. Allow an hour and a half for the tour. $5.00 is the entrance fee. Included in the fee is a free bourbon ball, tasting and a take home shot glass. Entrance fee is free for children under 18. There are stairs. The drive to the distillary... more

Woodford Reserve is located in a beautiful setting surrounded by horse farms. The guided tour was superb and I learned more about bourbon than I knew possible! I saw the post dated 8/21/2007 titled "Motorcycle "types" NOT WELCOME" last week. Since I, along with 11 other Motorcycle types, were planning a visit to Woodford we were concerned. We were traveling home and decided to take a small detour from the 5 hour trip to tour a bourbon distillery. We were lucky enough to happen upon this one! RE: THIS IS NOT A "FAKE" REVIEW. Our family oriented motorcycle riding club, consisting of retiree's through airline pilots, attempted a visit to this operation on 08/18/2007...was told our "type" was NOT WELCOME there. more

Even if you don't consider yourself to be a bourbon devotee, if you find yourself in central Kentucky you definitely shouldn't miss this tour. The drive itself is almost part of the tour; if you come from Lexington you'll drive right through rolling hills and horse farms. A very short drove off of I-64, the Woodford Reserve tour is a nice experience. We toured the historic distillery in August of 2006, about an hour tour of this very historic old brewery which produces a premium bourbon, in limited quanties. It is the official bourbon of the Kentucky Derby. A small tour bus takes you throughout the grounds... more
