Being in Louisianna for the first time, this museum taught you about all the different aspects of the state from the past. We were with a group of veterans on a tour. There were some school groups that were there also that were very noisy and were there just to get out of school. They made it bad for the... More

I have never been to Louisiana before and found the museum to be very informative and educational. Lots of interesting displays and a lot of creativity was used to make each exhibit interesting.

In the shadow of the current state capitol building, this large museum is a little know gem. It is free and comfortable and a real introduction to the history, cultural and people of Louisiana. You can visit briefly and hit the high spots or immerse yourself in the exhibits (including an impressive recorded array of musical styles and performers) for... More

Interesting, well-balanced review of Louisiana history. Was crowded with school children when we visited, but still delightful to walk through. Its a bit small, but still brimming with interesting bits of information. The gift shop, also small, is delightful.

The free museum was a great place to learn a little about Louisiana's history and culture. We enjoyed the third floor culture area the most.

I didn't find out about this in time to plan time to see it all. I breezed through the Culture and People part which was fasinating. This is an outstanding museum, located across from the State Capitol. It was MUCH better than the capitol. Plan to spend 2 or 3 hours here. And it is FREE!!!!

An absolutely wonderful museum about Louisiana's history. My favorite is the cultural section upstairs with the history of Cajun culture, language, and music and the Mardi Gras costumes.

Not a dull moment here!! From "sittin on the stoop" on a New Orleans shotgun house and listening in on a "yat" conversation to seeing a full sized shrimp boat right in the building to the Creole people and Cajuns, you just learn so much. I lived here all my life and that made it even MORE FUN! My sisters... More

This wonderful, modern museum is one of Baton Rouge's best kept secrets. Situated walking distance from the State Capitol, the museum features hundreds of exhibits (many of them interactive) on the state's history, food, music, economy, and so much more. Children can explore using a scavenger hunt map, but adults will want to linger to listen to the music, and... More
