Your kids will love the zoo...no matter how hot it is. There are a couple of places to eat. You gotta try the chili cheese fries, nachos and of course hot dog. Cool off with a slurpee or ice cream while you ride the train around the zoo. No matter how many times we go...my kids love it. There's also... More

Some reviews compain that this zoo is not as nice as the Audubon Zoo -- and of course that's true -- but for a zoo in a smaller city like Baton Rouge this zoo is very good. I live in New Orleans and I'm a member of the Audubon Zoo but this was my first visit to the Baton Rouge... More

The zoo is great for kids, but a little disappointing for adults. My son loved the train, the playground and looking at the animals but I found myself a little disappointed by the amount of animals at the zoo. I did enjoy the beautiful weather and shade, it was a nice walk if nothing else.

The Zoo is not nearly as unique as New Orleans' Audubon Zoo, which gives you the feel of the 1930s; nor is it a truly modern zoo. Still, they do a creditable job of displaying all that they have. The variety of anuimals, which are obviously well cared for, is all that you'd really want to offer a small child.... More

We live in Nairobi, Kenya (safari capital of the world) but when we moved to Africa, from Baton Rouge, four years ago, my kids were still young. They were starting to forget our many trips to the zoo with diaper bags and strollers, so last summer, when we were home visiting family, I took them to the zoo to see... More

was surprised to find this nice little zoo in the middle of a neighborhood.we really enjoyed this zoo but ride the train when you first go in because it is a little bit of a walk away from the rest of the zoo and only ran every thirty minutes when we were there.

I saw this about 20 years ago and it is so much nicer now. I don't make it a habit to go to zoos, but I was impressed at how much nice this one was when we went this time. It's worth going to, if you "dig" zoos.

The Baton Rouge Zoo is decent and a good place to start for children that does not require a long drive for Baton Rouge residents. It has plenty of happy, healthy animals to view and photograph. For more impressive exhibits, head to New Orleans or surrounding cities.

My wife and I went to take photos and were very pleased. We had a really nice time strolling around and it was very relaxing. I feel this zoo is very under appreciated.
