Very friendly staff , lots of cabins and exhibits to see. You can wander round at your leisure which is always good. more

The re-creations blend in well with the original structures to show a nice representation of life in the bayou country in the early years. The real treat is the live music on Sunday afternoons. Authentic creole artist perform and the locals dance to the beat. A great way to spend the day. Well worth the $8 admission for adults. Kids... more

As a collection of restored historic structures and replicas of vernacular buildings, Vermilionville does fairly well. However, its version of 18th and 19th century Louisiana folklife falls short in many respects. If you are seeking out a "trip back in time", you are likely to be disappointed. We have been going to Lafayette for weekend trips for years and had heard of VermilionVille but had never gone... Finally we went... This is an Acadian Village set up with buildings that were brought in from surrounding areas... Some of the buildings consists of a school, church, blacksmith and several houses... On weekends they have guides dressed in period... more
