Our guide walked us back in time taking us through both the story and rooms of this wonderful old estate. We could almost see the thirty slaves that supported the home and heard stories about the additional 300 slaves working the sugar fields 10 miles to the south. Great place to visit for a view of the past. more
We knew about this place from a guide and had also a brochure from a Welcome Center in Louisiana. When we arrived in New Iberia there are only one-way streets and if you come from the north you drive along a parallel road. The Shadows is a beautiful, well restored home. It transports you back in time with all of the authentic restoration and the original furnishings and documentation. The staff is very imformative and helpful. Thouroughly enjoyed our visit. more
