Visited laura Plantation recently. I thought the story of Br'er Rabbit being written there was cool so purchased two books for 19.99. Imagine my surprise to find same book at Oak alley plantation for 7.99! At Laura they had cut the price from the jacket and then added a sticker. Beware. more

We visited Laura Plantation in September and thoroughly enjoyed the experience. We only had time to visit one plantation and chose this one because it was different and a Creole working plantation rather than a grand 'Gone with the Wind' style house. Our guide was great, he made the tour very interesting and answered questions in detail. Not only did... more

We visited two plantations during our honeymoon in and around New Orleans. The tour we received at Laura was definitely superior. Not only was it interesting and informative, it provided a creole perspective on life in the Old South, very different than what is typically presented in popular culture (e.g. Gone With the Wind). Our tour guide was knowledgeable and... more

Visited here while on holiday from Scotland. Our tour guide for the day was Mezee , she was very friendly and very informative. If you visit here be sure to follow it up in New Orleans by visiting the Town Houses that the Plantation owners did their entertaining in. Great value for Money.Very easy to find. more

This is a plantation house built in the creole style - it was meant to be a working farm, not the principal residence of the owners. The history of the women who ran the place for a couple of hundred years is fascinating. more

We completed a tour of the plantation on the lower Mississippi and this one is last on everyone's list in our group. Inaccurate information provided by our guide. The house is fairly modest, and in rather poor shape. Save your money and time at some of the better homes in the area, Houmas, St. Joesph, San Francisco, Destrehan, Nottoway are... more

I was at Laura Plantation today. We first went to Oak Alley since we had limited time and had a flight to catch. Drove past Laura and it didn't look like a Hollywood movie set plantation, so we continued on to Oak Alley first. The setting of Oak Alley is beautiful, live oak trees are breath-taking. The tour was.... ok.... more

My wife and 2 young girls recently visited Laura Plantation and have to say, this tour was the best compared to the other plantation tours we experienced. The stories found here are compelling, human and often times very funny. Our tour guide Meezee was wonderful. She made history come alive where you get a sense of how life actually was... more

Please excuse any typos. I'm trying to type this from my phone as I am without Internet access for the next 5 days of my 8.5 wk journey around the US. Yesterday my 5 yr old daughter and I visited 2 plantations: Oak Alley and Laura. Oak Alley's tour was fine enough. The setting is beautiful. However it was odd... more

I took my wife and mom here while we were visiting New Orleans. Although I didn't really have any interest in plantations, I enjoyed myself thoroughly and learned a great deal. This is simply the best historical tour on which I have ever been. The guides pay attention to deal, are almost impossible to stump, and do a great job... more
