Deer Isle Village hosts an annual 4th of July Parade that is very old fashioned and fun! The entire island turns out for it. It's like being back in the 1950's. Avoid the crowds of Bar Harbor and visit this small island. The other half of this island is Stonington. Excellent carbmeat and lobster. people very polite. Try fried clams while you visit. Wonderful crafts to buy.

We happened on Deer ISle on a Friday. The 44 coffee place in the old school in the center of town was open but so was the 'farmer' market' in the same place. We were able to buy a mug of the BEST soup for lunch with home made bread. Then we bought goodies from the women who were selling...
