The tour guide was very knowledgeable, and really focused his lecture on his audience, relaying how our different origins had something in common with the Portland area. We enjoyed visiting this old, refurbished incoming ship viewing tower. We were guided by an knowledgable volunteer up flights of stairs to the various levels to see how the tower was built, how it was used, its history and restoration. Too dull for my 4 year old but I found it interesting. The whole experience lasted less than 40 minutes. more

Anyone interested in any aspect of histroy or architecture would enjoy this place. It is an 80 foot tall wood tower built in the early 19th century to signal ship owners that their ship is coming in.
