Ask for "Bridget", just an amazing tour guide! She really knew her "tuff" and amdethe tour much more interesting tha it might have been.

Located next to, and part of the Maine Historical Society (MHS) Museum and gift shop, is the Longfellow House. The Museum has changing attractions (the one I saw dealt with marriage dress for the past 100 - 150 years, many artifacts with stories tied to people in Maine. If you're doing genealogical research (as we were) the Brown Library at the Maine Historical Society is a great resource. Over three days we spent about twelve hours there and came away with some excellent information. The researchers there were extermely knowledgable and helpful. Take a tour of the Henry Wadsworth Longfellow house and see the exhibits and pictures at the historical society. This is a fascinating spot to catch up on Maine/Portland history. Kids and adults will love this place.

Although I have lived in Maine most of my life, this was my first visit to the museum at the Maine Historical Society.
