The greatest plus about this beach is it's so close to the DMV area, yet not crowded. My husband and I take our daughter here once every summer. Minimum entry fee, yes, and off you go to the water! We enjoy the views and the shops nearby. And we LOVE the funnel cakes offered on "the boardwalk"! :)

First tiem we visited North Beach was summer of 2011 with our 10 months old and 2 year old kids. The water is very calm so our little kids enjoyed the water and snad without worrying about big waves crashing.

We go to North Beach frequently. In the summer, we like to go down to the Tastee Freeze, grab a cone, and walk on the boardwalk.

We rented a great house right on the bay with a small but private beach and kayaks. This is a small town with none of the typical "shore" distractions. If you like boardwalk games, North Beach is not for you.
There is abundant wildlife (especially birds but I did hear of a muskrat!) and tons of deep sea fishing charters....
