Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

The best beach on Martha’s vineyard buy you must be staying in a rental near by (and get a permit)to get acesa to it. Signage is very poor so make take you a bit to find the path but don’t give up as their is ample parking.

We were looking forward to seeing this beach and did the drive from the port just to find out it is only for residents. Tourists not allowed.

Very nice amazing beach. Access can be limited during summer. Go in off Sean for walks on the beach. Parking is limited so go early.

Top 5 beach for our family. We were able to go because we rented a house in Chilmark and we paid for a parking pass. This is a private resident only beach, so you cannot go without a pass, which you can only get if you live in Chilmark or you are renting there. IT IS WORTH IT! We went almost every day, low traffic, awesome waves......

Probably a lovely beach. We could not say; we drove in on impulse and there is no sign stating that it was for resident only. Beach fees are extortionary - we turned back and went to a public beach instead. Considering that this type of community lives on tourism, the approach to beach access seems rather counter intuitive. Instead of having a lovely day at the beach and then lingering on and shopping at the village nearby, we just left.

So, I was reluctant to give this the highest rating because of the lack of access to this magical place in-season; but I looked at it from the other side. If I were a local resident, I wouldn't want to have this beach overflowing with tourists in the summer either. The beach is otherworldly, looking as though you've been transported to Cabo San Lucas or other Mexican pacific beaches, with the weather carving magnificent formations along the cliffs. However, non-locals can enjoy this beautiful location in the Spring - June 1st, and again after Labor Day. A true diamond in the rough.

We are awed by the dramatic changes happening to this beach and this visit was no different as we found even more erosion of the cliffs and shifting of the beach itself. But, still, all in all, one of the most beautiful beaches in America. Worth making a trip there off season when non resident are able to experience its beauty.

"Lucy" is a private beach for residents and guests of the Town of Chilmark. Nice clean sand and somewhat rocky surface going into the water

There's actually no way to get on unless you know someone or are staying in the town. This changes off season - maybe not till otober though

I'm not sure when the season begins or ends. We were there on for Memorial Day weekend, and we had no problem getting on. I'm thinking the beach season would be when they have lifeguards there, and I would think that most lifeguards have gone back to school by now. If you're on the Vineyard and have a car, it's worth taking a ride out there to see if you can get on.
