Watched a HD performance of The Magic Flute in December, 2011. We sat in the balcony and had a great view of the screen, but the heat was turned up too high and it was extremely warm up there. Other than that, we had a great time, and the theatre is very nice.

Most events are expensive but the live broadcasts of opera and theater are affordable. Beautiful old theater.

The Mahaiwe is an historic theater built in 1905, with proscenium, wings, box seats, balcony, etc. It was beautifully restored about 6 years ago. Music, dance, theater, opera and classic movies are presented. I saw a holiday showing of "It's a Wonderful Life" just before Christmas, and in keeping with the season, and the theme of the movie it was...

Saw the Moscow Ballet perform The Nutcracker. Small production, but lots of fun. Theater is a gem, but it was very hot.
