Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

I took a photo of the Lexington Belfry in April 2022. I did not climb up the steps and pathway as it appeared to be very steep. In Lexington Green there is a historical marker which marks the original location of the Lexington Belfry. If you stand here you can get a good view of the Lexington Belfry and a good photo opportunity. I would not recommend climbing up.

We made the climb in sneakers, but really should have been wearing hiking boots. The path up to the belfry is rocky and not well paved. It is a shame that it is somewhat difficult to get to the Belfry, because it played a very important part in history. People should be able to access it much easier and learn the role of this building in the Battle of Lexington.

Although it is possible to reach the summit of this little hill from the address currently shown on the map, the "trail", such as it is, actually enters from the Massachusetts Avenue side, and is marked with a sign. Not handicap accessible.

Historic reconstruction, and interesting history in that it has been moved several times. On April 19, 1775 it was actually down on the Lexington Green, as shown in numerous contemporaneous drawings, and at one time was located at a farm some distance from here.

We started up and then turned back. This is not a hill. This is not a path. It is a bunch of rocks that I found too dangerous. What was once a series of stone steps has fallen into serious disrepair making it hazardous to climb. I was especially concerned about being able to get back down. Too bad, we were looking forward to seeing the belfry.

Very few Lexitonions probably know of this very short hike in the Center of the Town. Dont forget to feed the meter, though its not something that takes more than 15 to 30 minutes.

We ran (yes ran for a bit :)) to see the Belfry. Very cool area and it was very well taken care of. Granted it was rebuilt, but awesome that they recreated it in the location of the original Belfry Hill.

Trudge up this small hill hidden behind some trees and you will find this historic sight. It is really more of an historical marker because you can look at the old belfry but that's about it. It is right in the center of Lexington so its worth a look.

The Old belfry is a great spot to walk up to from Lexington Green. its also part of the Across Lexington Trails networ (30 miles of trails in Lexington) . The Old Belfry is part of the history of America and you can feel the community's love for preservation in how they've maintained this structure over the years and the Lexington Green as well. The Belfry is an important part of Revolutionary History in the heart of the Birthplace of America and is not to be missed.

We trekked up the path to the Belfrey, not knowing before hand that it was a tough walk - especially for a couple in their 70s...but we made it up and back down without mishap. We were glad we got to see it since it helped complete our visit to Lexington to see the Battleroad events. Just be aware of the climb.

Not an easy place to find, walking up the hill there are a few seats and then the surfaced area stops. Even a local did not know how far it was to the belfry. The path beyond the surfaced area is very steep and uneven and certainly presents problems for those with mobility issues. However it is a short walk and even though the belfry needs a bit of TLC it is worth seeing because of it's place in history.
