I love the bike trail very nice to have a safe place to exercise. This is excellent for families.

The Norwottuck Rail Trail is great for family rides especially if you have small children. The trail is nicely shaded so it's a little cooler even on those really hot days. Parking is somewhat limited at the Northampton end but there's various places you can park along the trail in Hadley and Amherst. One option is Whole Foods in Hadley...

If you need to rent a bike check out Valley Bike and Ski Werks right on Rt. 9 next to Hillside Pizza in Hadley. They only charge $25 for really nice Hybrids and $40 for a tandam which is lots of fun. They are super friendly and helpful.
