Hoxie House is one of those places you'll want to see if you like early New England architecture. Research indicates that the house was built in about 1637 and it is likely the oldest house on Cape Cod. About to head out of Sandwich, on a whim I decided to stop by the Hoxie House. For $3 I was able to get a tour of the house. The tour guide talked about where many of the old phrases came from, including "tying the knot" and "raining cats and dogs". She explained old taxes on metal, light, and stairs.... more
