The tour of the house after dark was great fun. They tell you about life before electricity but not too much about the general history of the estate. I guess I will have to go back for that and attend a tour in regular business hours.

Went with my 8th grade son for an extra credit project. We've been to outdoor events here, but previously never toured the inside. Very impressive! If you are in the area, definitely worth the tour.
Horse show was excellent. Grounds & house well maintained (as of several years ago).
You don't expect to find this beautiful house museum and lovely country setting so close to downtown (right off route 20!). Beautifully preserved, and so elegant.
The house is a unique style and worth taking the tour. There are many unusual furnishings and some original to the Gore’s. The renovations seem to be on-going, so don’t expect a pristine glamorous estate. The tour is a solid hour and very informative. Some of the highlights are the staircases, mezzanine level rooms and of course the game room...

Guided tours of old houses can be boring but this was really interesting. The house is in the middle of a big park with farm animals nearby. The guide told us that this was the kind of house that Jane Austen wrote about. We also heard stories and saw the biggest pool table in America.
