Make sure to drive all the roads, go around and through the middle. Stop at the Conservatory for a few and if it is open the Dossin Great Lakes Museum (will be undergoing renovation soon). Go during the day to enjoy the beauty and have a picnic by the water.

Peaceful, great views, but so sad that the City can't maintain it adequately.

THis is not what it was years ago and even then it was not so nice. Most of the exhibits on the island are gone now, other than to watch fireworks i can't see any reason to be here.

We're originally from Detroit and remembered going there as kids, so we wanted to take our kids to visit it while we were in town. They had a blast. Great Detroit skyline views. Pack a blanket and a picnic, this is the summer place to go. Bike over or drive over. Visit the Conservatory open 365 days a year for beautiful tropic plants. Also visit Dossin Great Lakes Museum.

Lack of maintenance shows! Still worth the trip for the views of the strait.

We go all the time with our kids (in the daytime). People are really nice, really friendly, you can bike, see the Dossin Great Lakes Museum, the Conservatory, see beautiful views - it is still a jewel and a great day. Feed the zillions of ducks and geese bread - the kids love doing that!

I remember going to the park as a kid and having so many fond memories of picnics, visiting the zoo and aquarium, etc and now the park has looked like it's been under repair for the last few years.
