Have made a few trips there. I love the history of our Michigan Lighthouses. This was the first one I ever visited. Well worth my time.

Very nice beach area, beautiful scenery. great place for a sunday drive.

Got there just before close on an August weekday. Good time to go since there was no lines or waiting. Gorgeous view from the top. Nice period displays in the living quarters.
The lighthouse keeper's house has now been restored. They have started on adding period items. this is one of many lighthouses where the second floor is reserved for volunteers who stay onsite and give tours and provide information. I visited the Tawas Point lighthouse in East Tawas, Michigan, with folks who signed up to be volunteer lighthouse keepers for a week and were there for training. The lighthouse is located on Lake Huron within the Tawas Point State Park which is a lovely place that draws families throughout the summer.

This lighthouse is located in East Tawas, MI. It is in Tawas Point State Park, in the day use area. There is just a short walk on a paved path from the parking lot, or paved paths from the campground. There was a $2 entry fee.
