Sleeping Bear Dunes National Lakeshore is a must see if you are anywhere in the area. Swim in beautiful blue water, hike, climb a sand dune, or simply soak up the sun and spectacular views. We stayed in Traverse City and it was easy to reach from there. Just a short drive away. more

Highly recommend the pierce stocking scenic drive to really see the dunes and the most beautiful scenery. The walking trail off this driving tour is a bit strenuous and long, but there are some nice things along the way. Overall you could really see enough without the walking trail. Don't let the cold keep you away. There is a lot to do and see and you don't have to wait in line at the restaurants. The room rates are great this time of year. It's a great time for hiking, snowshoing, and photography. more
