Wow, sites are spectacular and even for the person not into the whole hiking scene, was worth the time to hike around a bit.

Anyone who loves to hike will love these trails. Visitor Center has a theatre to provide a history and overview of the park and what it has to offer. Museum in visitors center worth walking through. Go in the fall...The colors and vistas are spectacular!

Lake of the Clouds, the trails, Lake Superior... virtually untouched by crowds. A place to hike, reflect and relish the beauty of Ontonogon County..a good time to visit is during the Porcupine Mountains Music Fest in the summer.

I have visited the Porkies all my life when we are in Michigan. I highly recommend a nice hike in the Spring or Fall. Unfortunately I haven't been able to ski there - never been in the Winter but my father was on the ski patrol in the 1950s so it's very special to me.

My husband & I traveled 9 days via snowmobile from Eagle River WI to Copper Harbor MI and back. We stopped for 2 nights in Silver City so we could explore the Porkies. (Note, as of 2/12 no gas was available in Silver City.) The 2 main roads in the park (one E/W and the other N/S) were unplowed but... More

Visit the Porkies in any season; you won't be disappointed. Summer is the most ideal of course because of the warmer temperatures, but winter and fall much to offer too. Spring is also nice but tends to be wetter. Summer tends to be fairly busy so you will see other people on the trail. Fall is a kaleidoscope of colors,... More

We use the west entrance. The Black River enters Lake Superior there and the agate hunting is very good. Also, there are several wonderful hikes to view waterfalls along the Black River. For waterfall viewing, go in the Spring or early Summer - that's when the most water is coming over the falls.
