Well marked paved trails. Don't miss the Upper Falls. If you have time, also go to the Lower Falls and rent a rowboat ($12) to head out to the island. Take lots of pictures. Plan to eat at the Brewpub while you're there. Its got to be the best restaurant in a state park. I started with the sampler of... more

Tahquamenon State Park is at the edge of town, great camping and beautiful falls. Very large park on a river, campsites right on the riveredge. One night we were delighted to the sight of Northern Lights over the river, made great photos. The town is very small, but very nice. Lighthouse at the end of Whitefish Point, great birding in... more

Tahquamenon Falls Rivermouth Unit campsites along the river are beautiful and less traffic/crowds - highly recommended! A stunning park all around, although agree the crowds around the Falls themselves can be a lot during popular travel times. more

The Falls, themselves (both of them) are well worth viewing, but 99% of the crowds and people are clustered in, perhaps 2% of the vast wilderness area that encompasses the State Park. A great network of trails exists, lakes, giant pines, not 1/2 mile from the parking lot...even a pleasant hiking trail between the two. I have been coming to... more

Visited the falls in late August and we had a great time. Very few bugs and not many people although the large parking lot indicates it could get crowed during peak weekends. There are two separate entrances for the falls. One entrance is for the Upper falls, which is the bigger of the two by far. There is a small,... more

This is a great place to camp but if you go in early June bring your heater as it can dip into the 30's at night! Falls are great , we even saw a bear cub, while on a hike! Be sure to stop at the Brewery at the Upper Falls-great beer and food. We camped for 5 days. During... more

I first went to Tahquamenon Falls about 6 years ago and ever since I have made it a point to go back at least once a year. I try to stay at the Lower Rivermouth campground which is about 15 minutes from both falls enterences. If you plan very far ahead you can get a wonderful riverside camp site. The... more

We drove almost 3 hours out of the way because my husband remembered the falls as being very impressive when he was a child... They are beautiful. However, they are not particularly impressive, and three hours at that point in our vacation was way too much. The lower falls have several drops; the upper falls has one big drop. We... more

The only drawback to the state park is the mosquitoes. If you buy really good repellent and bring along a fogger or something else to repel them you'll be fine. We also used mosquito head nets when we went hiking in the area. It does get cold up there even in the summer so dress appropriately and be prepared for... more
