My family and I spent 4 days camping in Bear Head Lake State Park in late August. Everyone came home wanting to return some day. The campsites are generally pretty good sized, with the trees and bushes providing good privacy for most sites. We've camped several times at Bear Head Lake. There is never a lack of things to do between hiking, fishing, canoeing, swimming, bird watching and hanging by the campfire. Ely is also a very fun town to visit and the Echo Lake trail is a worthwhile hike (I think the bass Lake trail is a shorter version of this). The... more
