Between Lake Calhoun and I 35 W, lots of great shops and restaurants and entertainment. Very trendy place to live and go for night life.
Not my favorite place to be. Dirty littered streets, its an area that strikes me personally as high crime.
Lake Street runs from St. Paul to Minneapolis and all along the way you can find things to do. El Mercado Central offers up some great Hispanic food and stores. Go west to Uptown and you will find so much more. Night life is great here.
This is a great area for culture, but use caution. In South Minneapolis, this is a seedy area. Do not go here alone at night. And it is better to be with someone at all hours of the day. But there are some restaurants that are very authentic, and well worth looking into. Go to Global Market! Its a must....

One of the scariest places on earth. If you stop at a stoplight look straight ahead, Don't get out of your car.
It has everything there... some good some bad... the closer to the lake the better... Uptown is the best
have a craving for Mexican food, Somali perfumes, Central American clothing, or some of the latest hip hop music- you will find it all and more on the Lake Street expanse from the Mississippi River to Uptown.
