The neighborhood is great, however, I am not sure the house itself is worth the trip. You can look at it, you can't go in.

But don't make a special trip unless you are a crazed fan. It's just a house to look at... no tour or anything special.

It's not open to the public or anything, but if you are in the vicinity (it's right by Lake of the Isles), worth a stroll - by.

The MTM house is down the street from us, so we see many people standing in front of it, tossing their hat in the air, just as on the MTM show. It has been repainted and remodeled, so it is not the same, but it's still a lovely stately mansion that is definitely a landmark in the neighborhood. While you're... More

You can see the outside of the beautiful house that Mary walks into in the opening credits. The house is a private residence and is not available for tours. I suggest not bothering the owners and respecting their privacy. The inside of the house does not look like the show set so there is no point in seeing it.

Drive by and snap a photo of the outside. It's the outside shot from the show and easy to recognize (although is now painted a light brown or tan color). The neighborhood is beautiful, so it's worth the drive down the road and around to see the whole area. Brings back nostalgic memories from my teens and early 20's.

Since this is a private residence, all you can do is drive by it. It's a pretty house in a nice neighborhood, so once you've spent the five minutes it takes to see the outside, there are plenty of other things to do. (I saw this and the statue of Mary downtown while I was on the trolley tour.)
