Take my advice: Go early morning on a weekday, preferrably during early to late fall or early spring. If you go during peak times you will be sorry. This place gets overrun with rowdy teenagers during the summer. We've been here twice, once during summer and once this October. We got to Gooseberry at approximately 8 a.m. and compared to... more

Gooseberry is a great introduction to the North Shore, with a little bit of the things that make the Shore such a terrific family/adventure destination. But if you want more solitude, better hiking, or cooler camping, head further up the shore to the other state parks. This is probably the best State Park for camping in Minnesota. Nice sites, you can hike all day long, the falls are very nice. The falls can be down greatly by the end of summer. If you want to see them at their best, go in spring. more

yes i took my daughter up there for her 11th birthday. she love's the north woods and the fall's was her best .she played at the mouth of the river.and we had her birthday party there is was great more
