Spent three hours at the National Eagle Center (non profit) today. We got up close to 4 Eagles (3 bald annd 1 golden). The eagles were injured (wings) and surgically repaired but have been deemed unfit to return to the wild as they would perish. Wabasha, Minnesota has an interesting attraction called the National Eagle Center (www.nationaleaglecenter.org) It is in downtown Wabasha, MN on the Mississippi River where Bald Eagles are frequently sited. The Center has live Eagles on the premises and if you're there at feeding time, you can see them feed. There are observations decks to watch through telescopes or binoculars wild Eagles... more

We toured the facility with our family and a school group on 2/25/08. Right away we gathered our group for a photo and the Center volunteers/workers brought in "Angel" the eagle for a photo opportunity, as part of our group picture. That was very nice of the staff to do. After that we went in as scheduled to a back... more

We drove the Mississippi River Valley Road (Hwy 61) from Red Wing to Wabasha to count and photograph the migrating eagles in Feb or 2008. Stopped here to check it out before we headed back. A nice little place with lots of eagle information and programs. Worth the $6 admission. Check out their website! more

The new Eagle Center is really a lovely facility. Only problem...not one eagle in the wild. They have a few in captivity that you can learn about. We wanted to see the eagles over the open water and saw nothing. It was our second attempt and we leave feeling disappointed. In the summer they told us winter is the best... more
