Wow, is this ever a cool place. The ground floor boasts a collection of plaster casts of Greek and Roman sculptures, which is fascinating to walk through. The originals aren't together in a museum elsewhere, so it's a rare opportunity to look at the development of this art form up close, comparing styles across eras. Upstairs, one gallery offers ancient... More

Surprisingly interesting collection of art, statues, coins, glass, etc. Great presentation of items. Perhaps the most interesting place to visit in Columbia.

I like their classic film showings every few weeks. It draws a friendly, informed group. Main museum attractions are all over the map.

Clever labels, lovely installation, and even a fine gift shop! And did I mention free admission?

The cast gallery is excellent! The choice of items in the museum is good, and major periods of art are represented! It is better for the ancient art, rather than the renaissance period. Do not leave the UMC campus without seeing this museum!

i didn't really expect much before going- after all, it's an university museum. however, it was surprisingly comprehensive, with a great mixture of arts and artifacts from around the world. i was disappointed that the african, indian, and new world exhibits were small. in any case, a great stop for anyone interested in history!

Recently,I visited the small, but special Museum of Archaeology and Art on the campus of the University of Missouri. I enjoyed their fine Italian Renaissance paintings(Altobello Melone,Bartolomeo Montagna,Paris Bordone,Carraciolo).I enjoyed their paintings by Goyen,Heeremans,Isabey,Vasarely, and Andy Warhol. I appreciated their fine collection of ancient Greek artifacts. I spent five pleasant hours at this cosy Mid-America museum
