The area still needs help in attracting visitors. Things appear somewhat run down.

We have been to the area a couple of times and have not been favorably impressed by the area.
The home of KC Jazz music, this area has many jazz night clubs and small theatres. Soul food restaurants are good, if a little pricey. The area is a popular attraction for tourists and locals alike. A great place to visit an open mike poetry reading to a mellow evening filled with jazz and good wine.
So fun and historical! The Blue Room is my favorite place down there! The live music is a must see!
Small but nicely restored neighborhood showcasing local and national jazz musicians, the Jazz Museum, Negro Baseball League Museum, the Blue Room club and the Gem Theatre. "Rhythm-n-Ribs" annual outdoor music festival is great. Area is located only a few blocks from downtown and is well-lit with ample parking.
a historic district related to Jazz, baseball and BBQ, a wonderful place to spend the day
the blue room is the place to go to listen to live jazz and blues music, local talent and national acts perform here and its small and intimate a great place to listen to amazing music
