On a sunny day in May, we brought a picnic tea with us to the Kauffman Gardens. We sat comfortably in the shade in the wrought-iron chairs while we chatted and admired the flowers. Not just flowers--the ingenious use of varieties of lettuce to fill in the spaces added more shades of green and russet. (And made us wish we'd... More

I love, love, love this garden. The gardners from Powell Gardens are in charge of all the lovely plantings and it shows in the detail. Each season brings a colorful surprise. Every year brings a new color theme. You can bring a sack lunch, set, relax, listen to the fountain and regenerate. We took my granddtr's senior pics here this... More

Small but beautiful workmanship and care taking. A diverse selection of plants, well thought out by color and texture. The bronzes are a little too pedestrian for my taste, especially considering the bar set by the Atkins sculpture garden.

this is one of my favorite places in my favorite city. even folks who have lived here their whole lives somehow miss out on this place and, i've got to say, i'm not entirely sad about this (make it less busy when i want to enjoy it!). this place is right out of a children's book - so picturesque and... Try to include this before or after dinner or an evening's walk. If you make this one of your more repeated destinations, it will add to the quality of your year. You can add strolling Brush Creek.

For those of you who have vitied Powell Gardens, this beautiful little santuary is maintained byt he same staff with care and love. I go there often for lunch break from work and on the weekends to sit among the garden and read a good book. Each season is a showcase of beautiful plants, and great ideas for our garden... More

The gardens are situated near the Plaza, so it is a little oasis of beauty right there in the city. The area is small, but it is very pretty and you can tell that they people in charge of the upkeep are very dedicated to making it look great. I could enjoy the gardens in less than an hour, but... just South of the plaza off Volker Rd,and walking distance from the Nelson-Atkins Museum, the gardens are a peaceful, tranquil, and beautiful respite from spring thruogh earlu fall. Unique plants are all labeled for easy identification, and many sitting areas along the path. A must see while in KC!
