Nice place to just hang out, haven't tried the camping yet but will soon!
Unlike many parks - which are developed as tourist attractions, thousand hills is clean, user friendly and still pristine. The wooded areas are largely untouched. Even the trails are minimally marked, keeping nature to stand on her own. It's a beautiful place and a treasure.
The wonderful early warm weather has been great for the Park this spring. We put our pontoon boat in the water even before the marina opened. Spent a great day on the lake, redbuds were beautiful, fish were biting. It's just a short distance from town, so it makes going out something we can do after we leave the office...

Take time to check out the park, it is beautiful, a good place for kids, and a fun place to spend a day.
Be sure to have dinner at the lodge with a view of the lake. Nothing fancy, really, but I've never had a bad meal there. The hieroglyphics are also worth the visit. Seems that the boat rentals are very expensive, though, too much for my pockebook!
It was okay, we were there in the off-season, but it was unseasonably warm. I thought it was large, spacious, and quite pretty regardless.
There is a lot to do at Thousand Hills. In the summer there is a swimming beach. This is not one of my favorite things because the beach is not very good, but it can still be fun.
