This is good to get you up and awake on a Sunday Morning. Good to duck into to get some local grown produce for cooking, veggies, fruit and eggs. Homemade cakes and other recipes are on sale. It was fun to cook some dishes with what was available. Cakes disappeared the quickest. You can also buy local bacon on the... More

We arrived and left Norfolk Island on early morning Sunday flights. The market (such as it appeared to be) closed at 11.00am so we weren't quick enough to get there when we arrived and weren't able to visit before we left. Not exactly the best for tourists but that exemplifies much of what niggled about Norfolk Island - half-day closing... More

We visited the markets on a Sunday morning while waiting for our flight home and were surprised by how small they were. There were a few interesting stalls with local souvenirs etc but there wasn't really anything in the way of food. Possibly we visited too late in the day (10am) and maybe some of the stalls had already been... More

We had loved the coconut pie dessert served at the evening fish fry on an earlier visit to the island, so we were keen to find a local source of it on this visit. It is ironic, as Norfolk, being subtropical, doesn't grow coconuts!! We turned up early to the markets and hit the jackpot straightaway, with a lovely lady... More

we thought the markets were great, it was a nice sunny day so we heard that it would be busy as many stall holders dont bother if it looks like rain. there was so much stuff to brouse and buy, food van, ice creams, fresh baked cakes and cookies, bloke selling sausage sangas, home made lemonade, fresh local coffee, plenty... Arrived on Friday afternoon November 6. Saturday morning had a Farmers Market at the Bicentennial Centre (behind the Tourist Office) with just a handful of stalls. Yes it is small and the fruit/vegetables are not "A" grade but they are flavoursome, organic, seasonal and generally competitive in price with the supermarket. For example the tomatoes tasted like real tomatoes, the... More

We went in August which is a fairly quiet time. Not very much in comparison to other markets but worthwhile visiting. Items not really cheap and I found some books selling more than in other stores on the Island.

The markets are held in the Bicentennial Centre in Burnt Pine. They held on a Sunday Morning. The day we went the number of stalls were very small. There were stalls selling some quite good local souvenirs but that's about it. There was some live music and the general feel of the place was very friendly. A pleasant enough way... More

Vegetables are in short supply on the island. Potatoes, onion and garlic are the only vegetables that are imported so if you plan to cook your own meals get to the Sunday market early and you will be able to add to your supply of fresh vegetables and fruit. Home baked sausage rolls, egg and bacon pies, cakes and home... More
