If you are ever in St. Louis, Missouri you should go up the Gateway Arch. Not only because it is one of the most famous monuments in the USA or the nation's tallest memorial, but you get to learn about history, symbolism, and a see a stunning view of St. Louis from the top of the monument. The entrance fee... more

The Gateway Arch is the defining symbol of St. Louis, a structure like no other. Built to symbolize the pioneer's expansion to the west, it sits on the banks of the river bordering Illinois on the one side and the city on the other. Underneath, there is a museum and shops where you can learn more about its history. You... more

We purchased a package form the Gateway web site that included the Arch, movie, lunch, boat ride and bike rental. It was well worth the cost as it made a day of it. Going up in the Arch itself we arrived early and were on one of the first rides up. When we reached the top there were only about... more

You definately need to visit the Arch if you're in St. Louis, no trip here is complete without it. Although I didn't go up the Arch like the rest of my friends did, I did tour the museum, visited the gift shop and saw the Arch close up. My friends, who are not closterphobic like me, said the view was... more

I only cared about the Arch and the Zoo in St. Louis, MO in this trip. The arch is a world class phenomenon, as it is humbly explained in the documentary we purchased with the lift tickets. Things to note: ** We have the Annual National Park Pass, so we got to go up to the Arch for $7/person, instead... more

I've never put a visit to the Gateway Arch at the top of my list of places to go. As a matter of fact when we decided to go visit my son in St Louis this summer, I kind of figured on "just driving by if it was convenient". Well, my son lives downtown, and we arrived about 8 or... more

The view from the Gateway Arch is spectacular. The grounds are beautiful. The process to get up to the top of the Arch, however, is kind of a pain. The security is apparently pretty high so keep in mind that you will have to have your purses and bags searched, go through a metal detector, remove belts and any metal... more

Based on pictures I had seen, I had expected the Gateway Arch to be mostly a run-of-the-mill memorial, but it exceeded my expectations in all aspects. Standing next to it you appreciate the architectural achievement it represents and the stunning impact it has precisely due to its simplicity. Riding the tram to the top is a unique experience (though not... more

We went on a Wednesday and were able to pretty much walk in and head on up to the top. I was very nervous about riding the tram but it was ok. The top was beautiful and worth the experience but definitely crowded. We didn't stay up top for long, just enough to take in the sights and snap a... more

If you're just standing outside on the Waterfront it is not bad. The museum underneath the arch is awesome and details a good bit of the history of expansion. It has great displays and I really enjoyed it. The last time I went up the elevator I remember it rocking back and forth so if you have small children, they... more
