Everything that has been written about the Transportation Museum is true. What I would like to emphasize is that there are a number of very old steam locomotives unrestored in the back of the big shed, including a camelback and a Mother Hubbard, that were acquired from Purdue University in the early fifties. If you love trains, then the Museum of Transportation, just west of St. Louis, is the place to go. Numerous locomotives, freight and passenger cars can be seen, and even explored inside. The centerpiece is the Union Pacific Big Boy steam locomotive, the largest steamer train ever built. Here at the museum is one of the few left in existance.... more
