If you want to have a greater appreciation of slavery and the Dred Scott and Harriet Scott case go see The Old Courthouse. It's free! The movie is helpful. The rangers are knowledgable. The bathrooms are hotel quality. The giftshop is nice!

This courthouse is filled with history. The Dred Scott trial was here. The building itself is beautiful and has been restored. One negative is that parking is hard to find and may not be close to the courthouse.

Something to see if you enjoy American history. It's near the arch so you can make an afternoon in the same area.

You could walk right in, ( no fee ) and do a self tour. It was so neat to see the beautiful work done, the old coutrooms, and so much histroy. You have to go

Lots of written information in the hallwaysof this place and some really nice displays, but... Most of the displays could have used more information about them and the specific objects on display. I saw only one person as a docent, of sorts, in the building while I was there. Better staffing, even using volunteers, would really help this place.

Great information, it was in the process of being remodeled, so not all rooms were open. My boyfriend is a lawyer and thought that they did a great job on the set-up.

The Old Courthouse was under renovation when I visited, but the inside still held much of the beauty I had heard so much about. Amazing museum exhibits, as well.

This is an incredible piece of architecture. The grounds near the Courthouse are perfectly groomed (even in hot summer!). Inside, it's cool and neat to see the pictures and old stairwells.

This is one of the most historic spots in Saint Louis where the famous Dred Scott case was decided. It doesn't really take much time to go through but is definitely worth seeing if you are going to the arch.
