Jefferson Barracks Cemetery and Park is a gorgeous place to visit on the banks of the mighty Mississippi. Filled with history and wildlife. I go sometimes in the evening for a peaceful and beautiful drive and always take apples for the hundreds of deer that call it home. Loaded with all kinds of wildlife for you nature lovers. I've been... More

History is a great thing to experience and learn about. This place has some history, some wonderful scenery, and it gives you a good sense of being an American while you are here.

The landscaping is amazing. The sheer sense of being in one area with so many veterans who are laid to rest is breath-taking. (No pun intended.)

I moved to this area in April of 2011. We don't live far from J. B. Park and I loved the outdoor Blues/jazz concerts my fiance took me too. We went every weekend. The bands playing were all local talent. It's very casual. Families were there tossing footballs or frisbees some even had dogs . You can bring a picknick,... More

A day you'll long remember after a visit to both the park and cemetery! The JB Park, probably has not changed much for the last 100 + years and is a very relaxing place for family and loved ones. The National Cemetery is a place to pay your respects for the many Veterans and their families, that served their country.... More

A treasure trove of history of the military in Saint Louis. The old base is still used by the reserves. The national cemetary is peaceful and reninds of the sacrifices of those who have died to keep us a free republic.

My mother's family is from southern Illinois and when we visited family in Missouri, I always wondered what Jeff Barracks was about. Well, it is an old fort where soldiers trained and lived from Civil War time to WWII. The land is very pretty with hills and valleys but the site interpretation is pretty thin. The veterans cemetery is moving... More

This is a very easy-to-get-to place, right off I-55, along the Mississippi River south of downtown St. Louis. It is well worth the trip. Many civil war veterans are buried there. This is a humbling experience.

Rows and rows of people who served and protected. It touches you to see the amount of tombstones. Me mom & mother in law are both buried here.

The Jefferson Barracks park is both a historical site and a playground, complete with ballfields, and the like. The centerpiece historically are some of the old military buildings which have survived and have been restored. One of these sits on a bluff overlooking the Mississippi River, providing a great river view, and has a nice museum inside, telling about the... More
