Whether or not you're Catholic, the Cathedral Basilica of St. Louis (aka the New Cathedral) is an inspiring place to spend some time. It has one of the largest collections of mosaics in the world. It was a beautiful amazing place. I am not catholic but am amazed and inspired by the amazing tile work. We went with a youth group and they were all impressed by the building. The Basilica of St. Louis is an amazing church well worth a visit. This church is almost 100 years old and has some of the most outstanding mosaic artwork I have ever seen. This is a must see on a trip to St. Louis, even if you are non- religioous or don't like most churches. It is the world's largest collection of mosaics under one roof and is resplendent. more

We were in Italy and we didn't see anything with this much mozaic. It boggles the mind to see so much of it in St Louis, MO.- so unexpected. We aren't religious so the kids we puzzled as to why we were going to a church during our weekend visit. They were even impressed (ages 13-7) . I took photos,but... more

An amazing sight in the middle of St Louis. The interior of this cathedral is really quite beautiful and awe-inspiring. It's truly catholic and also very American at the same time. Nobody hassles you when you visit. It's almost always open. And it's a quite visit you should easily be able to fit into your visit. more

In a 2 week trip from Texas to DC and thence to NYC, this was undoubtedly the high point of our trip. Totally unexpected, we read of it's existence in the hotel magazine on St. Louis. Walking into this this Cathedral took my breath away. The impressive architecture and mosaic artwork are truly something to behold. The hours (7:00am-5:00pm) make it easy to fit in a visit. It's located very close to Forest Park and easy to locate and park. more
