I had to visit this museum for a class assignment. I had to take my three little ones with me. The docent was very informative and actually conversed more with my kids than me. I appreciated this because I liked that they cared to include the kids in education. The art was displayed in creative ways and the building is... More

"The Pulitzer, designed by Pritzker Prize-winning architect Tadao Ando, opened in October 2001. Commissioned for the building and on permanent view are Ellsworth Kelly's wall sculpture Blue Black, located in the Main Gallery, and Richard Serra’s torqued spiral sculpture Joe, located in the courtyard." This building is so extraordinary, it's well worth the visit even if nothing is on display.... More

This is a newly-opened (as of Nov 2011) arts venue in the Grand Center area near the Fox Theater and St. Louis University. It is an extremely sparse and austere facility, but provides a dramatic setting for the art. The theme of exhibition at the time we were there was images of the Buddha from all over the world, ranging... More

Interesting place. The art is modern. Go to the St. Louis Art Museum in Forest Park if you want to see traditional, old-school paintings.

I combined this with a visit to the City Diner (next to the Fox theatre) and the Modern Art Gallery next door - a pleasant morning excursion in St. Louis's virtually abandoned midtown. I enjoy modern architecture, but the "grain silo" chic did nothing for me: a strangely lifeless building with dead light and impractical corridors that go nowhere. The... More

I do not know what the world of high art did to upset some people, but I certainly appreciate that someone funded this museum with their excess money, versus the many other private wastes in which they could have indulged. The museum is open on Wednesdays and is free to the public. There is no pretentiousness at the door, or... More

The Pulitzer is a small museum which is very easy to enjoy in a short time. The building is perfectly suited for the art normally displayed there. The Pulitzer has also hosted recent temporary exhibits which have been fascinating and beautifully presented. Hopefully this will be a continuing trend. I have never had an unpleasant experience there and the docents... More

I visited the Foundation for the third time while visiting Saint Louis two weeks ago for a weekend. I always try to visit when I am in Saint Louis because of the interesting pieces on display. I am NOT a big fan of minimalist art or even modern art but this is a very small collection on display in a... More

As a St. Louis resident, I have had three opportunities to visit the Pulitzer Foundation for the Arts. Each time I've come away feeling intensely repelled, yet strangely fascinated, and usually with enough motivation for a repeat visit... once I get over my overall feeling of nausea. For those not yet in the know, the Pulitzer Foundation is a small... More
