Walk through the 31-room, 12,000-square-foot lodge built atop two natural caves by Sedalia lawyer John Homer Bothwell. You will marvel at the owner’s eclectic tastes and how a country gentlemen furnished a recreational lodge for himself and his friends. Most of the furnishings in the house are original, and the property also has a three-mile hiking and mountain biking trail. « less

It looks like a fancy stone lodge, which it is. It is sometimes called a castle. Very neat design and history to the lodge. Period furniture and a tour guide. No ghosts that I know of.

This place should be in a movie. Perched atop a high hill it surveys the valley for miles. Originally, a club for the rich, it is now open to the public

Uniquely designed old mansion with a great view. A great expenditure of an hour or so.

It is pretty neat to go see, and it won't take much time out of your day to do so.

I am sure this is a nice place but just be aware it is not open during the week. We stopped in on a trip between KC and St Louis. It was a Tuesday and the only staff we saw were two men working on the bathrooms (not that I expect them to be tremendously helpful but they didn't even... More
