We visited Confluence State Park on our way out of town (leaving St. Charles). Once you drive the dirt/gravel roads back into the park , you'll arrive at a small parking lot. This is a great place, as long as neither the Mississippi or Missouri Rivers are flooding, reached over some remote roads. If water is low you can walk right out almost to the confluence, and see the difference in the two rivers.
