My family and I went on a weekday, so it wasn't too crowded. The price included two days of admission, but we were able to see everything in one day. As stated previously, there is an indoor exhibit where you can learn about the history, biology and ecology of black bears and grizzlies. While not very large, the exhibit is... more

We visited the centre on our first day in West Yellowstone. We spent a couple of hours there. The exhibits inside are very interesting but the outside as the other reviewer commented is the best. The bear area is very large and the bears are let out 2 or 3 at a time for about 45mins. We got to see... more

What a pleasant surprise it was to stumble upon the discovery center! Guests enter into a museum complete with expert-lead discussions, interactive exhibits, and taxidermied bears and wolves. The museum showed the animals in what would be their natural habitats, educating visitors about these amazing creatures. They also took great care to explain how the taxidermied animals found their way... more

Great exhibit, even though I do not like seeing wild animals in captivity but there are times they cannot be reintroduced to the wild. Really a joy to be able to see them so close up. Great personalities. Liked seeing the wolves also, I think there were about 6 of them. 4 bears. The inside exhibits were very good also,... more

There is a program, Keeper Kids, that allows children to hide food for the bears in their habitat, while the bears are in the back being rotated (only 2 are let in the habitat at a time). It was one of the highlights of the trip for our kids. They loved seeing the bears come out afterwards and turn over... more

We went to the center late in the day and all of the animals were sleeping. There was an informal session near the wolf area and the woman who was working it seemed to know quite a bit about the pack at the center. She did answer a few questions about the bears, too. They have a clipboard outside between... more

Spent a few hours here while vacationing in West Yellowstone last week. Was an interesting way to pass the time. The place was a lot smaller than I expected - they do have plans to expand it seems. Got to see 3 bears (from a great distance) which, since it was winter, was the only way I was going to... more

We stop by here every year when we go to Yellowstone. Bears are rescues. See them in their enclosure and the wolves, too. Nice gift shop. First part of building is a museum with lots of info on bears and wolves. Keepers spread treats in the enclosure for the bears while they're inside the building. Kids can sign up to... more

We visited August 21, 2007 around noontime, and it was quite a different experience than a visit there several years ago. On this visit, the three grizzlies were crowding in a corner next to their "house" as if they wanted to get away from visitors. It was sad. On our previous visit several years ago, there was a pack of... more

We visited on July 7, 2006. We loved it. The carvings and statues outside were pretty. We didn't think the admission price was unreasonable since it is valid for 2 days. The inside had life-sized dioramas using taxidermied bears and had information. Outside were the grizzly and wolf pens. The wolves were busy running around the pen and the bears... more
