This place is never open. You will have to keep trying if you travel regularly. Open usually on a weekend they provide historical displays, and still life inactments of wagon life. The giflt shop offered period; toys, cook books, diaries, typical postcards and albums. No food available there so bring your lunch. Outside is a typical wagon and tent you...

The Center is a wonderful place for families to go and experience a taste of what traveling the California trail was like. Experience the clothing, travel rigors, cooking, finding water, firearms, animal life, entertainment and many other areas of what was involved in getting across the country before railroads, highways, or airplanes.
This is by far one of the best places to visit when traveling between Elko and Carlin. The center is only opened until Labor Day (2011) and then will re-open in the spring of 2012. The displays are 1/2 complete at this time, and they are amazing thus far! When the center is closed this winter, they will be finishing...
