The house at Spring Mountain Ranch had an incredible history of evolving from a small cabin to a rambling building, owned by ranchers and movie stars. Indoor and outdoor tours given by docents "made the day" for us. There are several picnic tables, and a wealth of history.

Head a couple of miles down the road to Spring Mountain Ranch, operated by Nevada state parks. Admission per car is $9 which includes your entrance to the 3000 square foot ranch house. The park is a wonderful retreat on a hot day. Lots of trees and up near the mountains on the west. We enjoyed walking the grounds, and touring the homes on the property (an old homestead and the more modern house with interesting design elements and Hollywood connection.)
