its a beautiful place...There are quite a few waterfalls & a couple of covered bridges...The flume is a natural gorge. The walls reach over 70 feet, and several of the walkways are built on the side of the falling water. The walls are about 10 to 12 feet apart. A feeling of just you and the water, and the natural... more

We stopped at the Flume Gorge during our leaf peeping trip in the White Mountains region of NH. It's a beautiful place for photographers. There are quite a few waterfalls & a couple of covered bridges. The 1.5 mile hike is not very strenuous but proper hiking shoes are highly recommended. Here a link to my pics from our visit:... more

This is a beautiful place. You definately have to take your time going thru this place....don't rush! Hiking through the entire place would take about 1.5hrs but my suggestion is to take your time and enjoy the place. The roaring waters the natural beauty is breathtaking. We traveled with two children (ages 9 and 12) and they enjoyed it as... more

Flume Gorge is a beautiful place accessible by a short albeit slightly steep hike up a fairly slippery staircase. Very doable, slightly difficult, well worth the view at the end. I've been there once in the summer and more recently in the fall and though it's nice in the summer, the fall foliage really makes the place pop with color... more

As other reviewers have pointed out, it is a bit of a walk, around 20 minutes both uphill and downhill with stops for photos, to reach the Flume, but it's all on well maintained pathway and we - mid-30s, average condition - managed it no problem at all. There are some lovely views on the way through the wood including... more

Out of all the times we've been to New Hampshire, this past time was our first trip to the Flume Gorge. It was absolutely beautiful. What a wonderful way to spend half your day. You hike through the woods and come across what looks like a mini Grand Canyon and a cooling waterfall. It was just wonderful. more

As a few other reviewers have suggested, the hike is not that hard, in fact my parents who are in their mid 60s did not even break a sweat during the walk! the views are a photographers heaven....We will come back again in the future! more

Worth the visit, a dramatic walk through the gorge and a nice walk back, although there is an option to take a bus. Great if you are a geology geek. more

It truly is beautiful but I wouldn't say it is strenuous at all. I hiked up with a baby in a backpack and my 3 and 6 year olds barely stopped. We hike often and they are very active. It does seem a little slippery on the steps and I made the toddler hold on because I was afraid he... more
