What an amazingly beautiful church. Boyfriend & I did not go inside, but the view from outside took our breath away. If you appreciate works of art, this masterpiece will leave you speechless~~~~~Phenomenal Architecture!!!

I visited this place with my family and son. Cherry Blossom was at its fullest and the nature was at its best at this time. Had a great time at this place and enjoyed a lot.

The Cathedral Basilica of the Sacred Heart rivals any of the hundreds of cathedrals we have seen throughout Europe. Begun in the late 1800s it was completed in the 1950s. It is hard to believe that such a wonderful place of worship has survived all the violence that Newark has suffered.

A great Cathedral and Branch Brook park with its Cherry blossom trees blooming in the spring is right across the street.

What a gem in Newark's history. It is so worth a visit as the architecture, statues, altars, and length and breath of it are outstanding. It is like the baby sister of the Basilica in Washington which is absolutely gorgeous. It took dozens of years to be built mostly by Italian immigrants. Go and be impressed.

I went on a tour several years ago and was greatly surprised at this gem in Newark - very interesting and reminded me of some of the great Cathedrals I had visited in Europe.
