We loved it! From the short drive from Santa fe to the tiny rustic western town - location of 25 movies in the last 21 years - courtesy of our guide Harold's funny, informative and historical narrative - to the beautiful, clean stables, wonderful horses, helpful riding instruction, friendly ride mates and breathtaking scenery, we had an incredible experience!! As... More

4 of us (3 novice and 1 experienced rider) did the 1 hour ride. John was our guide and did a great job of gauging our level of experience and providing constructive advice so we could maximize the experience. I was expecting a sedate walk but we trotted and even cantered around the scenic Galisteo canyons. Horses were great, views... More

Broken Saddle is the only place to ride in Santa Fe. We have been several time and Harold is excellent. This is not your usual walk in a line on a horse around a park horse place - it's exciting riding through the hills and canyons just outsides Santa Fe. Their horses are top-notch and guides are the best around.... More

Exceeded our expectations!! Four of us did the two-hour ride. We had so much fun. Great little place, and the trail we went on was perfect. We live in Santa Fe so it's pretty close to home. Can't wait to go back!!

Harold knows horses and riders, and takes great care of both. He gave excellent instruction and was very safety conscious. The ride went into an adjacent park with lovely views and blooming desert plants. He was very well informed about the botany and geology of the area, and the Tennessee Walkers were a pleasure to ride.

My sister, niece and I went riding at Broken Saddle on Easter. The weather was perfect, and so were the horses. The owner Harold remembered which horses we rode on our last visit. We had John Wayne as our wrangler and he is wonderful. He tells great stories and is a fantastic rider. We are experienced riders so they didn't... More

A trail ride with Broken Saddle is an AMAZING experience! Beautiful scenery, surefooted, trustworthy horses and Harold the ranch owner was lovely. Experienced riders can canter and it is an experience not to be missed.

We have been riding with Harold and his group for almost 17 years every time we go to Santa Fe...usually on Christmas Eve, but this year in sunny March. The horses are fit to the rider's experience, the trails and views of the mountains are outstanding, and the southwestern experience one you will always remember. Not unusual to be riding... More

We booked a 1 hour ride 2 days in advance for myself and my twin 13 year old and twin 8 year old daughters. None had ridden a horse before outside of carnival rides. We got there 30 mins early as requested and got our helmets, paid and signed the waiver as they got our horses ready. I will note... More

I took the two hour ride from broken saddle with a friend and Harold as our guide. we rode through the desert. There were great views and Harold was very informative about the history of the area and the plants we passed. Harold was very helpful in instructing how to handle the horses. You can ride up to your ability... More
