+ Uncrowded, great brochure with interpretation, excellent museum, easy access, friendly staff. - Right off the highway and surrounded by residences.

Salmon ruins is a small Chaco era archaeological site, about 1000 years old. It is a great example of the prototype plaza design that appeared in the Southwest around 700 or 800 AD.. This was my first visit to Salmon Ruins. I enjoyed the ruins, but I must say it was a little disconcerting to see homes very close to the ruins. My Brother and I commented on this throughout the visit. The tour of the ruins is self-guided and you may borrow a map from the attendant. I would highly recommend driving... More
