It was a little cool out of the sun, but the sitting was beautiful. Lots of information and a great place to use your imagination . Put yourself there. We ran out of time.

Not much to see, ruins of a church and Native American vendors selling pottery and other South West stuff.
A beautiful drive from either direction brings you to one of the few places you can actually walk around the site, on your own. True, these are Spanish pueblo ruins and not early Indian/Hemish, but they are still several hundred years old. Nice small museum. And the area is really pretty.
This is one of the NM State Monuments. It is the ruins of a 1600s Jemez pueblo and church that has been carefully resored. There is an excellent guide to use as you walk this large area which included buildings, kivas, a massive church with 8 feet wide walls and a convento. There is also a small museum in the...

Interesting mix of ancient Native American ruins and Spanish colonial church ruins. This was a quiet and lonely place deep in the mountains. Very evocative. Wandering through the structure made me feel like Indiana Jones! Highly recommended!
Jemez State Monument what a Beautiful place. The Sunsets are awesome and the Sunrise is Amazing. The Jemez people built villages in the narrow mountain valley and on the tops of the steep, sculptured mesas, naming one valley village "Giusewa" for the many hot springs in the area. The vistors Center/Welcome Center has a small museum and exhibits interpreting historic events...

Excellent monument in Jemez Springs. Nice preservation site of a 1600s Spanish Mission. Simply low priced and enjoyable to experience.
In the visitor center they have a very nice display in the museum which I saw first thing. I then used the provided (and helpful) guide to walk through the site. Massive mission church, which is the primary thing to see here. Overall, I quite enjoyed myself. Very convenient if you’re doing the trail. Very nice site and sights. Very...

My family and I drove up from Albuquerque and stopped here on our "back road way" of getting to Bandelier. We had read about how beautiful Jemez SM was and we weren't disappointed. The small, but very educational, museum did a nice job of explaining (from the Native American point of view) the ruins and history.
Upon exiting the building...

This monument is actually just north of Jemez Springs, not Bernalillo (which is 30+ minutes to the south). The monument is of a Spanish complex including a mission church that was built using Native American labor.
You will be able to see how these structures were constructed using basic materials and how people lived in this area hundreds of years...
