Lincoln is not to be missed if you're an American history fan. The preservation is exciting and the location is perfect. I was surprised at how lovely the town is nestled in the mountains. The night is quiet and peaceful. We really enjoyed walking the town late at night and enjoyed the beautiful starry sky as well as the coolness... More

It is a very small town with many historical buildings that date to the 1880’s. We toured five of the buildings. The town had a violent past when Billy the Kid and Sheriff Pat Garrett walked the streets. Mule deer in town. The town was very interesting.

If you are driving the highway through town you should definately plan a stop. You could walk around for just a half an hour and enjoy a small step back in time- a great stop on the way from Capitan to Roswell.

Lincoln, site of the infamous Lincoln County Wars (circa 1880s), is a terrific historical town to visit. The historic buildings are laid out on either side of the highway and easy to walk among them. Tickets can be obtained either at Courthouse Museum or the Visitor's Center. An important stop is the Tunstall/McSween Store, but you do need tickets to... More

This is wonderful, authentic western town where Billy the Kid lives on.  Adults and children alike will love the museum and original courthouse where Billy escaped.  Great day trip from Ruidoso!

Had a beautiful drive from Las Cruces and really enjoyed everything there is to see in Lincoln ( it's just a street!). Friendly people at the museum, shops and visitor center made this a perfect trip for this Dutch Billy the Kid fan.

Got to go back to Historic Lincoln NM after a 4 year absence and re-live the Lincoln Co War. Eat at the Wortley Hotel where Deputy Ollinger had his last meal before being gunned down by Billy the Kid. See the jail cell that the Kid was in. Go thru the Tunstell store. Stand where Sheriff Brady fell. The whole... More

This was an excellent trip for a Dad who loves the western battles that occured in the 1800's. This also put into perpective the move Young Guns. I think even our children were interested in this old west town and its history. Worth the time if you have it and like the old west. A cemetary coming into Lincoln from... More

We spent a lot of time here on our visit. A lot of western history here. Read some info about Billy the Kid, John Tunstall, John Chisum, and the Lincoln County war before going. It was an enjoyable day.
