A new facility with a wonderful setting. The exhibits and the film are well done and the Center is clean and attractive. If you don't have time for the actual Pueblo this is worth the side trip.

See where people have lived for hundreds of years.
Worth the drive off the interstate. The building itself is a work of art...so much better than the old museum / cultural center.
And our tour guide was friendly and witty. The views are spectacular of the scenery...but you don't get to "see" the culture. And the "museum" does .OT reconstruct anything for you...it's current day artists on display- photography right now.
The museum is well done and you can get a wealth of information on "Sky City" and the Acoma Pueblo Indians. You can have lunch here and outside on most days the Indians are there to sell pottery and jewelry. My wife bought some of each and it's very good quality.
The cultural center and tour was an uplifting education . We had the funniest guide, Limpert , who gave us the history , present day activites of the town and the interesting facts . He really should apply for a stand up comedian job!. Just ask him about an Indian ATM !. The 90 minute tour was far from dull.
We visited the wonderful new museum and cultural center and then were taken by bus to the pueblo which had been inhabited since the 1100. The tour was fascinating and the pottery availabe for sale was magnificent and much cheaper that that available in Sante Fe. Bring a checkbook or cash.
The Cultural Center was very interesting and enjoyable. It has a lot of nice pictures and some paintings. The people were nice and it is a nice place to see.
This stop is not worth making off of I-40...unless you want a lot of indian icons.
The Cultural Center is a great introduction to Acoma Pueblo. It has lovely art exhibits, a little cafe, and a gift shop. You can sit outside and take in the views, and peruse local pottery and crafts while you wait for your tour to begin. The facilities are very modern, clean, and beautiful.
