"The Chalet" is the place for First Time Skiiers. They have everything there...Rental, Instruction, and an instruction area with a lift marked (not verbatim) "The Easiest, lowest, non-scariest, Ski Lift in the Rockies". When you get to Red River - go ahead in the afternoon (as we were advised to) and get your equipment, lift tickets, and Instruction passes for... more

I am not one for highly developed, high dollar, touristy, high brow, snooty areas. The people just dont seem to be as nice at the big, expense ski resorts. Last year went to Reno/Tahoe and skiied Mount Rose. Liked it but too far to drive back and forth. This year stayed in the town of Red River and did not... more

My wife and I spent Valentines Day weekend here and had a blast. We stayed at the Lift West, which is not bad considering the price. We liked Red River over Angel Fire.
